“PLASTIC PLANT POT REUSE”

WHEN: Dropoff begins Saturday, May 15 – June 30, 2021
WHERE: Dodge Homestead, 58 Harbor Road, Port Washington
and Science Museum of LI, Visitor Center, 1526 N. Plandome Rd.

Did you know that 99% of Plastics are derived from fossil fuels and only a mere 8% are recycled or upcycled? Plastic Plant Pots are generally #4 or #6 plastics and are not recyclable at all – not even if you “wish cycle” them into your curbside recycle bin!

Drop off your pots into the clearly marked bins at Dodge Homestead or the Science Museum

Join the PLASTIC PLANT POT REUSE!  We sanitize your plastic pots and return them to nurseries that can use them for the next season. Save plastic from landfills, incinerators and waterways. Support our mission to reduce fossil fuel and plastic consumption and lower our collective Carbon Footprint.

HERE’S HOW THIS WORKS

  • Save your plastic plant pots and trays that are larger than 3 ¾”.
No small 4 and 6 cups trays, as well as torn, crinkled or squashed pots. See photo below.

  • Clean thoroughly. Remove stickers. No pots with grower ID. Dry. Stack by shape

  • Bring them to the drop off locations and put them in the designated bins.

  • We will Sanitize them and Deliver them to LI Growers to be reused again
