Spring & Fall rewild plant sales

Twice each year, ReWild offers native plants from local nurseries.
Plants can be ordered online and then picked up from our locations for that sale.

Plant sales are core to the mission of ReWild. They help make native plants widely available for homeowners, benefit the local environment when planted, bring in new rewilders and volunteers, and generate funds for ReWild to invest in public rewild gardens and other projects.

  • Fall Online ordering opens early early September with pickup in mid-October. Dates will be announced in our Newsletter, so sign up for our announcements list at the bottom of this page.

  • Spring plant sale will be online in late March with pickup from our locations in early May, before Mother’s Day.

  • Special Summer Pre-orders are sometimes available to order early for Fall. You are welcome to email us at plantsales-leads@rewildlongisland.org if you have any special requests or large orders you are trying to fulfill. Typically, we need to know by February to meet Spring Plant sale deadlines, and by August to meet the Fall Plant sales.

Picking Up your Plants

  • If you can’t pick up plants yourself, please ask a relative or a friend to do that for you that weekend. We are all volunteers and cannot really hold plants for you past the dates above.

  • Please bring your own boxes and carry the plants home in your boxes. Make little plant signs if you can. We are not guaranteeing that there will be plant identifiers in every pot.

  • Use space vertically in your vehicle by using stackable boxes or milk cartons for smaller plants.

  • When you come in, please be respectful of others and wait if the pickup area looks busy. We want to ensure everyone’s safety — your patience and courtesy to others is most appreciated.

  • We understand emergencies and will accommodate you when possible. However, we are not responsible for plants left with us past the pickup date for your location. All plants remaining after the date for that location will be gratefully accepted for donation to a community space!

  • In order to keep the lines moving, we will be unable to entertain questions during the distribution of the plants. Please take pictures of your plants when you pick up, as well as your order sheet. You can always email or call us later.

Important Information About Plant Sizes

Plants Need love

Our “SMALL” size plants look like this. Sometimes even smaller! We sell these in 5-packs.

Our “SMALL” size plants look like this. Sometimes even smaller! We sell these in 5-packs.

When they first arrive, our plants are not going to look as gorgeous as the photos in the gallery. With love, care and a little luck, you will have a brilliant explosion of color in your yard with a myriad of buzzing bees.

Depending on your patience and skill, you may want to select:

  • PLUGS: Super-small plants that have been raised for several weeks. They come in plug-trays and are available in 4- or 5-packs. An xSmall 5-pack is a set of 5 baby plants. They offer great value, but they want to be planted right away and require the most patience.

  • SMALL PLANTS: They typically come in pots smaller than 1 quart. They will grow into full plants in two seasons. These toddlers offer great value, but not instant gratification.

  • MEDIUM PLANTS: Between 1 quart and 1 gallon in size, these plants are a few months old. They generally grow into full plants over the course of one season. There is no instant gratification with these teenagers, though they can surprise you.

  • LARGE PLANTS: These nearly full-sized plants are 1 gallon or larger and they should flower in the coming season. If you are looking for near-term results, these plants are your best choice.

These plants go dormant in Winter and come back in Spring - please mark the spots so you don’t weed them out by mistake.

A note about bloom times: In each plant description, the numbers after the word “Bloom” refer to the months in which it blooms. For example, Bloom: 5 6 means the plant blooms in May and June.
