Programs on Cowneck
Summer program for high School STUDENTS / cowneck location
From tending pollinator gardens and harvesting crops for food pantries to eradicating invasive plants and composting, intrepid high school students learn and grow together, leading the way to create healthier, more resilient communities.
The Rewilded garden of sANDS wILLETS hoUSE
The Sands-Willets house ca. 1735 has been undergoing restoration and renovation of the house and grounds over the past few years. We have been removing invasive plants and re-imagining spaces with native plants using sustainable garden practices. We currently have a bird-friendly garden in association with North Shore Audubon, a shade garden, and a four-square colonial garden.
In the Works…
Improving the Rewild Garden at dodge
We’re trying to incorporate a rain barrel into Dodge Garden to reduce runoff and water pollution within our environment. Moreover, the rain barrel will aid in the prevention of erosion as it directly captures the rainwater. We will later use this extra water to fuel our gardens and limit our usage.
We’re coordinating with Bea Helft to implement new designs for native plant species and vegetables
