What we do

Our local programs include the Summer Program to Fight Hunger and Climate Change, Community Gardens, East Hampton Compost, Spring Plant Sale in Hampton Bays …. read all about them below.

🌿Native Plant Sales

Each spring and fall we receive, sort, and distribute thousands of beautiful, ecologically beneficial plants — available to shop online with local pickup. Helping us sort is one of the best ways to learn about natives, connect with kindred spirits, and do real good for the environment.

🏡 Chapter Garden: Matthew’s Pollinator Garden

Visit our chapter garden at the East Hampton Historical Farm Museum to see how thoughtfully chosen native plants can support wildlife while creating a beautiful landscape. The garden is a living memorial to Matthew Lester, whose vision was to create a space that supports our local pollinators. Join us every Thursday through September, from 3–5 PM, to help keep the garden thriving. Everyone is welcome!

🌱 Youth Summer Program To Fight Hunger and Climate Change

Our hands-on internship program gives 8th graders and high school students the opportunity to spend the summer making a real difference in their community. Interns plant native perennials, remove invasive species, grow and harvest fresh food, run a compost initiative, and help protect our waterways while working alongside dedicated adult volunteers at more than a dozen outdoor sites across the East End. In 2024, our interns contributed more than 2,000 volunteer hours to projects that strengthened our community and local environment.

📣 Tabling, Education & Outreach

We show up throughout the season at local events to share the story of native plants with our neighbors. If your school, library, or community organization would like a speaker or a tabling presence, reach out — we'd love to come to you. And we always welcome more voices to help us spread the word.

Projects in development include creating an uncommon, educational pollinator garden at Long House Reserve plus a community garden at Bridgehampton School

Upcoming events include volunteering at at Share the Harvest, hikes, garden tour, "garden therapy day," library & bookstore talks. Stay in the loop by subscribing to our newsletter at the bottom of this page.

East hampton High school pollinator garden

Part of the ReWild Community Gardens Program, the pollinator garden was created in the Spring of 2023 by the EHHS Garden and Environmental Club members.

In the images above: After laying out the location, the first order of business was to smother the grass. How did the students do it? (In the final picture, the students snapped photos of the resident baby bunny napping in the new garden.)
